<p>The following teams are looking for Senior Software Engineers: <b>Subscription Infrastructure</b> – manages and improves the billing experience; <b>Sign Up & Trial</b> – guides small businesses through their initial journey with Jobber; <b>Harbour Foundations</b> – builds the internal foundation for an AI‑powered customer journey; <b>Expansion</b> – empowers users to make informed decisions that drive business success.</p>
<h3>The role</h3>
<p>Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering, the Senior Software Engineer will collaborate with other Software Development members on a Scrum team to build an industry‑leading product that helps our customers and their small businesses be successful. We’re looking for people who are ready to solve problems that millions of entrepreneurs are facing, using their experience to influence both a product and our team, all the while still working on developing their own craft.</p>
<p>In this role, you’ll be a champion of best practices for well‑tested, scalable, and well‑organized code, customize and extend tools and processes to increase team effectiveness, and mentor others to do the same.</p>
<ul>
<li>Be involved in the full life‑cycle of a feature, from ideation to delivery and adoption</li>
<li>Participate in code review and testing, while driving engineering solutions to have consistent practices and reusable code</li>
<li>Facilitate group discussions with team members and stakeholders to determine the best solution to our customer’s problems</li>
<li>Research, communicate, and advocate for the use of best practices within your team’s domain</li>
<li>Mentor and coach junior teammates, helping them elevate their skills and careers</li>
<li>Understand how and why our customers work the way they do, so you can develop and improve features in Jobber’s online and mobile apps</li>
<li>Utilize AI tools to enhance development practice. At Jobber we use AI tools to complement human skills and augment productivity, not to replace human creativity, critical thinking, and decision‑making.</li>
</ul>
<h3>To be successful, you should have</h3>
<ul>
<li>A demonstrated level of senior software engineering experience on a full‑stack development team</li>
<li>A track record of learning and writing quality code in multiple languages, though experience with Javascript/Typescript is required (We use Ruby on Rails, React & React Native with Typescript)</li>
<li>Experience with the entire software development lifecycle in the Agile/Scrum framework</li>
<li>A strong systems focus, on building foundational software for large at‑scale applications</li>
<li>Ability to quickly move between different features and projects with a strong interest in experimentation</li>
<li>A structured understanding of common full‑stack frameworks, architectures, technologies, and patterns</li>
<li>An inquisitive mindset; ability to ask a lot of questions, seek out new information, and remain open to new ideas and perspectives.</li>
<li>The ability to self‑serve, take initiative, and find resources necessary to accomplish a project or solve a problem</li>
<li>Enthusiasm for delivering value early and often to customers</li>
<li>Experience providing technical mentorship and sharing industry best practices, helping team members navigate complex engineering challenges and stay involved with the latest technologies and trends</li>
<li>Experience using developer AI tools like Copilot or Cursor.</li>
</ul>
<h3>It would be really great (but not a deal‑breaker) if you had</h3>
<ul>
<li>Exposure or experience in a tech leadership role</li>
<li>Kafka knowledge and some basic AWS knowledge (e.g. Lambda, ECS, EC2)</li>
<li>Experience using Ruby on Rails, React, and GraphQL in a production environment</li>
</ul>

<p>Our product provides entrepreneurs the flexibility of working in their office or the field and we offer that same opportunity to our employees. You will have the choice to work in either our Edmonton or Toronto offices or <b>remotely anywhere within Canada</b>. <h3>Compensation</h3>
<p>This role has a minimum annual salary of $125,800, a midpoint of $147,900, and a maximum salary of $170,100, designed to reflect the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling.</p>
<p>Base salary is just one part of a total compensation package that will include equity rewards, annual stipends for health and wellness, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind.</p>
