About the role.

We are looking for a IT Technical Lead for operations team for our financial platforms, including Duck Creek Billing, payment platforms, and integrated financial systems supporting the service, growth, and future technology of PURE.  The role will report into Head of Platform Operations, Financial Systems within PURE’s IT department.

What you’ll do.

  • Ensure overall quality and stability of financial systems including:
    • Serve as the technical solution lead, proposing and implementing solutions to overcome roadblocks, outlining dependencies/constraints and escalate problems as appropriate
    • Lead a team of Duck Creek developers and configurators in providing financial system defect resolution with long-term considerations for performance and upgradeability
    • Debug and solve system issues with Duck Creek Billing and other integrated financial systems
    • Collaborate with our projects team in delivering system upgrades and system enhancements
    • Work closely with our Policy Administration System support teams to resolve transactional defects and to ensure new development renders expected results in Duck Creek Biling
    • Coordinate activities related to code deployments to both upper test environments and production
    • Consistently demonstrating a commitment to continuous operational improvement
    • Define system pattern/guideposts for the team and ensure adherence to future upgradability and compliance with PURE and financial systems’ best practices
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Finance and Reinsurance business units to drive new solution designs with responsibility for:
    • Work with stakeholders to determine how our current platforms and new technologies can help them achieve their business goals
    • Participate in vendor calls and coordinate deliveries into PURE’s test and production environments
    • Determine common design patterns, oversee architecture review and drive innovative solution designs.
    • Provide feature level sizing during project evaluation phase to ensure that the team is set up for success on delivery.
  • Manage a team that is highly engaged with clearly defined responsibilities, expectations, and career opportunities including but not limited to:
    • Coach and develop application developers on how to become great technologists who can lead with confidence, clarity, accountability, and precision
    • Define and monitor application development capacity, quality of work product, and development throughput based on the technology used and the experience of the person

What we’re looking for:

  • A hands-on leader who has strong technical skills and equally as strong communication skills
  • Seven-plus years of experience in the property & casualty insurance space with a focus on software development operations and application support
  • Experience managing, designing, configuring, and coding Duck Creek Billing solutions, and it is helpful to have experience specifically on Duck Creek-On-Demand
  • Hands on knowledge of Duck Creek Billing v7.x, Anywhere API, Duck Creek Author, Duck Creek Express, Duck Creek Platform Suite (especially Duck Creek Party), Billing Services (Scheduled Activities, Async Queue), and debugging Tools (TraceMonitor, ExampleUtil (including TSV), Data Tester, Processing Exceptions)
  • Deep technical expertise with a demonstrated ability to develop and lead highly engaged teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; you will need to enjoy exploring new solutions and challenging the status-quo
  • Experience in cloud-based environments and services is a plus (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with process orchestration, API management, and enterprise service bus tools is a plus (e.g., Mulesoft, Postman, Lambda)
  • Prior consulting experience preferred, Bachelor’s degree required

The base salary for this role can range from $85K – $115K, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
