Summary of Responsibilities

The vice president, information technology is primarily responsible for the overall technological strategy and support of the company. This person will demonstrate leadership and experience working with senior leaders to ensure resources and priorities are aligned to drive the success of the company. They will be responsible for management of the information technology, development and support operating and financial management and technical services activities. The vice president, information technology will have responsibility for maintaining the IT infrastructure architecture and implementing short and long-term system solutions with an emphasis on efficiency, budget, flexibility, and stability.

Primary Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Responsible for working directly with company leaders to define the company’s technology vision
  • Define and prioritize informational needs and initiates technology solutions to satisfy those needs
  • Assist with maximizing the efficiencies of software applications
  • Plan and organize hardware acquisition and facilitate the process to ensure consistency and alignment with the business plans of the company
  • Develop and implement IT service management processes and practices for infrastructure and applications
  • Direct the design, development, and maintenance of systems, programs, and systems software to meet the needs of the company
  • Ensure project deliverables and the operation of existing applications meet necessary standards (including security, user acceptance, on promised time/budget/function delivery)
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in the area of systems and hardware to assure that new developments are incorporated in future systems of the company
  • Provide associates with top quality, consistently available computer service, support training and maintenance of all computer systems used throughout the company
  • Responsible for the leadership, support, direction, supervision, and recruitment of the IT team
  • Manage all outsourced or hosted services and service provider contracts related to information technology
  • Create, maintain, and enforce written policies and procedures regarding all computer operations in the department and throughout the company
  • Act as liaison between hardware and software suppliers and management for informational updates and problem resolution
  • Compile and review records to determine department productivity, quality of output and cost of service and develop methods to continually improve results
  • Evaluate new equipment, software, and processes continuously, recommend changes as appropriate, and supervise their installation
  • Direct and develop annual operating budgets; administer funds according to budget approval
  • Maintain security of all data proprietary to the company and provide for the complete backup of all computer systems in case of system failure or disaster
  • Responsible for overseeing all hardware, software, and standardization
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Minimum of five years of experience in technology leadership and managing IT is required
  • Record of achieving a high level of success managing the IT function and have developed a strong, consultative management style that has produced capable managers and IT leadership

  • Ability to read and comprehend financial statements, such as budgets, etc.
  • Develops best practices and champion them within the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to use critical and strategic thinking skills to analyze problems and develop creative solutions quickly

  • Must maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive issues or investigations
  • Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training and other courses if assigned


  • Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working overtime, weekends, and non-traditional holidays
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
