Responsibilities:
Part Time-all shifts
- Provide care services to residents in accordance with established care plans.
- Assist in the admission and discharge of residents as required.
- Collect charts, records, and reports.
- Clean, sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
- Administer/assist/observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication administration record (MAR).
- Assist with monthly blood pressures and weigh-ins as required.
- Restocks the medication cart after all medication passes.
- Respond to medical/physical/emotional needs with collaboration from Health and Wellness Manager/Care Coordinator.
- Observe and report any resident changes in condition.
- Maintain confidentiality of all residents.
- Help residents maintain independence, promote dignity and physical safety of each resident.
- Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transferring and adaptive aids.
- Respond to resident concerns by answering to call bells.
- Notify the Director of Care of any resident and/or family concerns.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents utilizing infection control principles.
- Practice safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including. extinguishers (as applicable) DSDs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tag out procedures.
- Report all accidents/incidents immediately.
- Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.
- Perform housekeeping and cleaning support, as required.
- Communicate effectively with staff, residents, families and visitors.
- Work cooperatively with team members.
- Uphold and promote Applefest's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in our Code of Conduct.
- Assist with any other duties as directed by the Director of Care.
Requirements:
- Proof of two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series approved by Health Canada.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Post-secondary education in related fields: PSW/HCA/DSW certification or relevant professional experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and related bedside care to residents.
- Ability to model warm, caring, and empathetic communication when connecting with residents, families and peers.
- Ability to pick up shifts last minute and be flexible.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- LTC experience is considered an asset.
Covid-19 Considerations:
- Remote interview process.

- Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual.
