Sr Internal Auditor, IT-GCGCON

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, and also working under the guidance of the Manager, IT Audit, this position is responsible for leading the planning and testing on the effectiveness of internal controls, primarily in IT, including performing general data analytics and business process evaluation and documentation, evaluating findings, providing recommendations and reporting.  An excellent command of English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. As part of the team, Internal Auditors contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for all employees by ensuring adherence to all provincial and internal controls, regulations, policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Participates in annual technology risk assessments and formulation of the annual IT Audit Plan
  • Responsible for leading all aspects of technology audit and other engagements including; planning, fieldwork, recommendations, client interactions, follow-ups and report writing
  • Responsible for assisting with and/or conducting reviews in highly technical areas of current/emerging technologies. including cybersecurity, Internet, Intranet, ecommerce, distributed/cloud computing, social media, firewalls, Windows, UNIX and mainframe operation systems.
  • Supporting Financial Auditors, where required on technical aspects of financial and compliance related engagements.
  • Acts as a liaison between External Auditors and OneIT in performance of the annual ITGC work to support the annual statutory audit.
  • Provides training and advisory to Internal Audit on current and emerging technology risks.
  • Provides the VP, IA with support, where required on special ad hoc technology related projects
  • Conducts audits, primarily in IT using current industry frameworks (COSO & COBIT) and in adherence to the IIA Professional Standards
  • Evaluates findings, provides practical recommendations and prepares reports
  • Develops and applies testing scripts and IT related internal audit programs
  • Identifies and communicates areas of risk and IT risk
  • Develops approaches to minimize risk exposures; including development of automated monitoring scripts and tools, including best practice CAATs and continuous monitoring techniques
  • Assists with driving department transformation programs which will include implementing risk and technology based auditing approaches, streamlining processes and documentation, performance metrics, analytics, indicators and dashboards.
  • Communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Complies with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in technology/IT audit or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT auditing using a modern risk based approach and methodologies
  • CISA and/or CISSP designations required
  • CIA, CPA or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Computer literacy in MS Office,; ACL Analytics & GRC or advanced data analytics, Visio and/or other technology related tools
  • Prior experience working with an ERP solution (e.g. JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Project management skills an asset
