Role Description

This is a contract role for a Backend Engineer. The Backend Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining backend systems, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and performant. Key tasks include developing server-side logic, integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers, and collaborating closely with other engineers and team members. This role is on-site in Toronto, ON.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud computing and container-based distributed systems (Docker).
• Experience working with relational databases (preferably MySQL) and high proficiency with SQL.
• Understanding of higher level RDBMS concepts (locking and transaction model, isolation levels, deadlocks, etc.).
• Significant experience with at least one dynamically typed, object-oriented programming. language ( preference for Python).
• Great understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.
• Hands-on experience in using message brokers such as RabbitMQ.
• Deep understanding of restful API development.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast pace customer centric environment.
• 8+ years of experience in software development.
• Financial domain experience is nice to have.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Previous experience in a similar role within the tech industry is a plus
