Job Description
<p><p>The incumbent provides leadership in formulating the vision, goals, direction and policies for the Academic units which are consistent with Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s overall values and strategic goals, and broadly performs the following functions:</p><h3>Academic Program Leadership</h3>
<ul>
<li>Stewards the direction of academic program excellence while supporting the vision, mission and values of the institution.</li>
<li>Cultivates a culture of academic excellence.</li>
<li>Ensures the development of innovative and leading‑edge practices and programs.</li>
<li>Champions the development and promotion of student success strategies.</li>
<li>Ensures academic programs meet the highest national accrediting standards.</li>
<li>Drives organizational culture shifts to meet the needs of future work and learning.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Academic Services Leadership</h3>
<ul>
<li>Provides overall vision and leadership to the academic support areas which support excellence in the academic and learning experience for students and industry partners.</li>
<li>Directs and supports the institute‑wide planning, development and integration of a wide variety of student and corporate services delivered at the four campuses for the purpose of aligning services to effectively support the academic model.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Entrepreneurial and Sustainability Leadership</h3>
<ul>
<li>Creates an environment that generates alternative sources of revenue through novel partnerships.</li>
<li>Fosters innovation in program delivery leveraging institutional expertise to meet workforce and community needs.</li>
<li>Leads the development of partnerships with industry and government that create new opportunities for growth.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Institutional Planning</h3>
<ul>
<li>Champions the directions set by the Board of Directors, and President & CEO by supporting the development of Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Multi‑Year Business Plan (MYBP).</li>
<li>Provides clear direction to academic program and service leaders in the development of annual and long‑term plans.</li>
<li>Ensures plans and directions are current with emerging trends in the future of work and learning.</li>
<li>Provides vision and stewardship for student success endeavours.</li>
<li>Contributes to the corporate decision‑making process and strategic organizational direction by participating as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Leadership Council (SLC) and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).</li>
</ul>
<h3>Relationship Management – Internal</h3>
<ul>
<li>Fosters a positive working relationship among Academic, and Administrative Services units across the institution.</li>
<li>Collaborates and works closely with the office of the CFO and Vice President, Administrative Services; Deans; Associate Vice Presidents; and Vice Provost, to ensure high quality and consistent services are integrated, support and meet the overall institutional direction.</li>
<li>Acts as a resource to the President and CEO, the Board of Directors, and management staff on academic program and services matters.</li>
<li>As a member of SLC, contributes to the organization’s operational effectiveness and policy development by actively participating in a wide range of strategic and operational decisions.</li>
<li>Ensures effective and positive working relationships are fostered among all groups.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Relationship Management – External</h3>
<ul>
<li>Ensures close liaison with professional groups, industry, associations and government agencies.</li>
<li>Maintains relationships and co‑operation with educational partners, including the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.</li>
<li>Represents Saskatchewan Polytechnic on global, national, provincial, and regional academic committees.</li>
<li>Develops relationships and partnerships with other institutions to maximize resource and academic opportunities including donors.</li>
</ul>
<h3>People Management</h3>
<ul>
<li>Ensures a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment.</li>
<li>Proactively and strategically recruits and retains outstanding senior leaders and staff at all levels, including positions at the Vice Provost and Associate Vice President levels.</li>
<li>Coaches and mentors direct reports to ensure their success.</li>
<li>Creates an environment of high levels of employee engagement.</li>
<li>Holds academic leaders accountable for outcomes and a high level of performance.</li>
<li>Plans for future key leadership roles by ensuring succession and workforce planning initiatives are implemented within the division.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Resource Allocation</h3>
<ul>
<li>Ensures resource allocation for all academic programs and services are aligned with the organizational planning processes.</li>
<li>Participates and fosters the development of capital and other donor activities.</li>
<li>Develops innovative solutions to resource challenges by re‑allocating resources to align with and support Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s strategic goals.</li>
<li>Maximizes revenue generation, where appropriate.</li>
<li>Provides leadership around capital and facility initiatives with a goal of providing quality learning and working environments.</li>
