Laboratory Technician (Seasonal)

<p>Element has an opportunity for an <b>Login Technician</b> to join our rapidly expanding team. This is a <b>seasonal</b> position (until the end of 2025), but could potentially turn into a permanent role.</p><p><br></p><p>As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Associate Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Responsibilities: </b></p><ul><li>Receive samples and document receipt</li><li>Inspect samples and sample information sheet, documenting sample integrity. Notify Team Leaders of any potential problems with samples, analysis or client requests.</li><li>Communicate with client regarding sample integrity and analysis requests and document all communications</li><li>Enter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels, Notice of Sample Receipt and Lot Communication Sheets</li><li>Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location</li><li>Determine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping</li><li>Complete daily checks of sample storage equipment</li><li>Receive payment from clients</li><li>Request supplies and consumables in advance of requirement by recording needed items in order book</li><li>Follow the Quality System as documented in the Quality Manual</li><li>General duties as directed by the team leader or operations manager</li><li>Strict adherence to the corporate Quality System</li><li>Read, understand and follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures</li><li>Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Requirements: </b></p><ul><li>Post-secondary education in chemistry or other science related field or high school diploma with related experience</li><li>On The Job Training Required:</li><li>Quality System Training</li><li>WHMIS/Safety Training</li><li>LIMS Operation Training</li><li>LMS - Sample Reception Procedures</li><li>Understanding and ability to implement sample receiving procedures; understanding and utilizing field terminology</li><li>Effective communication skills</li><li>Knowledge of service codes and chemical preservative</li><li>Proficient in LIMS applications</li><li>Organization skills</li><li>Knowledge of correct sample storage conditions</li><li>Knowledge of what analysis location cannot perform and where to sublet sample</li><li>Knowledge of storage equipment temperature range</li><li>Knowledge of laboratory safety practices</li><li>Knowledge of service fees and provide receipt</li><li>Knowledge of supply levels and ordering process</li><li>Technical knowledge of test methods</li><li>Knowledge of the Quality System with the ability to interpret and implement Quality Manual</li></ul><p>Physical Demands:</p><ul><li>Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).</li><li>Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion</li><li>Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time</li><li>Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically</li></ul><p></p>
