Job Responsibilities:
- Management ability to plan, organize and control the organizational activities which cross multiple groups and to convey the corporate mission, policies, and priorities to subordinates to accomplish corporate and departmental missions.
- In-depth knowledge of Storage Arrays and Storage Area Network (SAN) including broad and deep knowledge of the management of complex state-of-the-art multi-vendor SAN & Storage systems and their applications.
- Complete familiarity with critical operations methodologies to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Experience in management of projects which require the support of multiple functions. Ability to deal effectively with all levels of management and be cognizant of the opinions of these people on all key issues.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to perform under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience with Trouble Ticketing, Incident, and Change Management Processes.
- Excellent communicator who is adept at reporting to all levels of management.
- An individual with leadership skills that thrives in a fast-paced environment and can take control in a crisis situation.
- Responsible for Root Cause Analysis on all customer-affecting outages and for implementing corrective action plans
- Plan, prioritize, multi-task and perform under pressure.
- Maintain effective working relationships across all departments
Tactical Responsibilities:
- Administer large SAN with multiple storage arrays – including the addition of new storage arrays and fibre channel directors (proposals and implementation), provisioning of additional storage, performance management, capacity planning, alert management, data security, software and microcode upgrades.
- Maintain a high level of technical expertise and business knowledge. Act as a lead consultative resource.
- Document and create standards and procedures.
- Supply technical and business system guidance to team members and other teams within the organization.
- Assist clients and server administrators to define their needs, identify which storage products are appropriate for them, and implement or acquire as necessary.
- Produce availability and other service performance metrics/reports to support business reviews
- Create strong, ITIL compliant, SAN and Storage documentation on the change process, roles, and responsibilities, policies and procedures.
- To be successful in this role, the individual must be adept at delivering measurable benefits in a highly matrix managed company. They must be used to achieving success without direct line management authority. This requires an individual with excellent influencing and diplomacy skills and a very strong action-oriented mindset.
- Provides senior level business and technical expertise to the team or department and acts as an internal consultant to other teams within the organization. May lead teams and function as a Project Manager.
Operational:
- 24×7 support (with rotating on-call). Some after hours and/or weekend work required.
- Administer NetBackup enterprise centralized backup system.
- Report and address areas of non-compliance of process governance with Management.
- Communicate and recommend areas for Process Improvement.
- Create and maintain configuration documentation.
- Provide timely, effective, and professional customer support.
Measure of Success:
- Consistent maturity of processes based on periodic assessments.
- Positive feedback (satisfaction) from customers and key stakeholders.
- Evidence of processes maturing as a direct result of individuals work
- Statistically proven improved process compliance and operational efficiency
- Evidence that improvement opportunities have been identified as a direct result of the reporting and analysis produced by this individual
- Implementation of standard and processes adopted by all participants.
- Improved process alignment between the SAN team, Internal & External Customers, and the Technology Services organization.

Essential:
- 3-5 years Storage Administration skills on SANs with multiple storage arrays. Hitachi, EMC, and Brocade experience and offsite mirroring or CDP a plus.
- System Administration skills on one or more of these platforms a plus: Windows, AIX, Linux, Solaris.
- Involvement with disaster recovery/business continuity and data security.
- Involvement with Netbackup multiplatform centralized backup system.
- Experience in risk and impact assessment techniques
- Excellent broad understanding of technology
- Process-oriented individual, structured approach to work and excellent at problem-solving
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ITIL processes (version 3).
- Experience in delivering process maturity and efficiency improvements, particularly if achieved with limited funding
- Experience in producing comms plans and in delivering simple, timely and interesting comms on initiatives and projects
- Analytical and methodical with excellent communication/influencing skills.
- Able to work with clients.
- Attention to detail.
