The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Information Technology Technician. The Information Technology Technician position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all computers and infrastructure support. This is a support position responsible for all technical aspects of computers and printers throughout the Richmond City Sheriff Office (RCSO) locations, court buildings and detention as they pertain to the sheriff’s Office. This position will implement secure network access and troubleshoot both hands-on and remotely. The position will also provide 24 hour telephone support to resolve hardware and/or software problems on a rotating basis.

The Information Services Technician reports directly to the Information Systems Director.


  • Performs analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop and LAN problems for end users
  • Collaborates with IT Management to ensure efficient operation of desktop computing environment
  • Installs, configures, tests, maintains, and monitors workstations, LAN Assets, and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels
  • Provides PC and technical support to all users within the organization
  • Installs/tests Cat5 RJ45 Data Lines for the initial set-up of networked computers
  • Performs all compatibility testing to insure performance is at its best
  • Installs hardware/software as needed
  • Provides technical support for Microsoft Office versions and all other software supported by the Information Systems Division
  • Maintains updated documentation for all computers/printers and other items of inventory for RCSO
  • Places requests for outside technical support for all work not provided by this Division
  • Prepares and submits reports as required/requested by the Information Systems Director/CEO and/or any other appointee of the Sheriff
  • Carries out any and all duties as directed by the Information Systems Director or his/her designee


  • High school diploma or GED required; two to three years of experience in a computer servicing and technology position and IT certification is preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and posses general computer skills
