<p>The Pearle Hotel & Spa – Burlington's premier luxury hotel and spa is located on the stunning shores of Lake Ontario. The individual in this role is passionate about preparing exciting and creative dishes and flawlessly executing the food service for multiple events, serving high quality canapés and meals for 150+ guests at once. The Event Chef is a natural leader in charge of guiding and supporting a team of 5-10 cooks and support staff.</p><p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p><p>Service & Operational Excellence</p><ul><li>Oversee and directs day-to-day event kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, efficient staffing, and operational follow-up.</li><li>Ensure all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to event department recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving standards, maintaining quality and consistency throughout preparation and service.</li><li>Stay informed about current trends in hospitality, food, and drink, sharing insights with management, team members, and guests.</li><li>Demonstrate standards awareness by setting examples for execution, testing, and implementing action plans to meet service goals.</li><li>Attends F&B management meetings, kitchen event briefings and weekly 10-day meetings.</li><li>Coordinates with Event Management and Front of House team to assure that food production and quality consistently exceeds the expectations of our guests.</li><li>Oversee multiple events to ensure exceptional guest experiences, accommodating special requests, dietary restrictions, and allergies, while managing guest service recovery and follow-up to ensure satisfaction.</li><li>Participate in product ordering, inventory management, and asset care, maintaining awareness of product freshness and inventory levels.</li><li>Demonstrate a sense of urgency during peak periods, while staying organized and proactive during slower times.</li><li>Oversee kitchen cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and proper food handling procedures, ensuring adherence to Pearle's standards and health and safety regulations.</li><li>Fully understand and comply with all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations related to health, safety, and labor requirements, ensuring departmental cleanliness and meeting health department standards.</li><li>Demonstrate a commitment to further developing skills and knowledge, initiating action to accomplish goals.</li></ul><p>Team Leadership</p><ul><li>Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract and hire top talent, partnering with the People & Culture team to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.</li><li>Work with People & Culture team to create and implement training and onboarding plans, including 6–8-week check-ins for new hires to ensure they are set up for success.</li><li>Foster a positive workplace culture that drives engagement and supports the development of team members, working closely with People & Culture to address performance and employee relations matters.</li><li>Serve as a mentor to team members, embodying a strong service culture and setting high standards for performance.</li><li>Identify and coordinate ongoing training and development to ensure team members have the necessary skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities for operational excellence.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate team member and BOH leadership performance, providing regular feedback and performance management conversations, documentation or terminations when needed.</li><li>Create weekly schedules that balance labor budgets with team member requests, ensuring efficient staffing levels.</li><li>Approve weekly labor and time-sheet approvals, including P&C forms, to ensure accurate records and compliance</li><li>Conduct regular performance reviews and one-on-one meetings with team members and culinary leaders to provide feedback, support their growth, and communicate key updates.</li><li>Champion Pearle Hospitality's leadership qualities: Inspire Trust, Ownership, Authenticity, and Present, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.</li><li>Facilitate and lead productive team meetings and workshops to promote collaboration, share updates, and enhance team performance.</li><li>Exhibit strong emotional intelligence and adaptability, responding effectively to both team and guest needs.</li><li>Participate in Chef meetings and communicate operational updates with supporting departments.</li></ul><p>Financial Ownership</p><ul><li>Develop effective pricing structures with culinary and front of house teams.</li><li>Control labor and operating expenses through planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control.</li><li>Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.</li><li>Oversee payroll, budgeting, and P&L approval to maximize profitability.</li><li>Implement creative cost control and revenue generation solutions.</li><li>Identify and address areas of concern, ensuring financial acumen and guest focus.</li><li>Ensure accurate reporting and schedule oversight to maintain operational efficiency.</li><li>Manage BOH COGS, labor, and food cost control.</li><li>Conduct inventory audits and submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.</li></ul><p>Additional Duties:<br><br>In addition to the accountabilities listed above, there may be other duties as assigned by your manager.
