Enterprise IT Business Analyst III

The Enterprise IT Business Analyst III scope of responsibility includes understanding the business goals and processes of Texas Tech departments, ability to use this knowledge to document business processes, serve as a liaison between central IT and functional departments assisting in support of software applications and manage business analyst projects, as needed. Additional responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to business areas, assisting in implementation and configurations of software applications, and suggesting improvements in business processes as automation is implemented. The IT Business Analyst will document project definitions and business needs for automation use by the programming staff. Enterprise positions are restricted for use in central IT Division areas reporting up to the institutional CIO and, as such, may interface with key IT leadership and/or functional leadership from the Texas Tech University System institutions. While limited management oversight may be expected for specific projects, this position is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment of the following duties:
  • Manages business analysis and quality assurance efforts through planning, tracking, and reporting, including the creation and maintenance of plans, schedules, and reporting documentation. 
  • Develops & maintains an understanding of software applications in order to assist business areas in the implementation & configurations of these applications using their knowledge of the applicable business rules and requirements. 
  • Communicates functional and technical details to a range of audiences, including business area experts and technical developers. 
  • Researches current methods and approaches to business analysis and quality assurance activities and recommend practices for use by Information Systems. 
  • Performs business analysis and requirements gathering and management for applications including developing, documenting, maintaining, and communicating business rules and requirements. 
  • Provides operational and customer support for application development teams, including monitoring, customer service, issue investigation and documentation. 
  • Performs quality assurance tasks for products in the software application portfolio, including creation and maintenance of use case, test case and test procedure documentation; decomposition of functionality for QA activities; and performance of testing. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Technology Support or IT Division leadership. 
  • Adheres to all appropriate Institutional policies (including IT OPs) and other relevant internal departmental policies. 
  • Assists with the management, administration, and customer support for the University Web Content Management System.
  • Administers TTU web site analytics, including implementation, maintenance, reporting, education, and recommending policy.
  • Provides oversight for technical web accessibility, including implementation of reporting, policy, and education.

Bachelor’s degree required plus five (5) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination or related education and/or experience.
