Job Description:

The Role

As a Director, IT Business Management you will collaborate closely with senior leaders in Fidelity’s Enterprise Infrastructure & Operations (EI&O) Domain to drive a consistent, effective strategy and planning approach within the team you support and across the organization.

Strategic Enablement / Support: Providing strategic direction and counsel. Translating strategy into execution, leading the multi-year & annual operating budget planning, supporting goal setting other business planning activities.

IT Business Management: Enabling continuous planning and focus on high priority efforts by working with leadership team members to evaluate portfolio / roadmap priorities. Driving operational improvements and enabling team success by standardizing practices, being a champion of change, and a thought leader.

Business Performance Management: Defining metrics that matter. Developing objectives and key performance indicators and implementing tracking to measure progress. Analyzing data, identifying relevant trends, and communicating findings that highlight opportunities and improvement areas.

Communication and Coordination: Serving as a central point of contact. Facilitating information sharing and ensuring alignment between different teams. Managing across EI&O and collaborating with key partners to enable improved alignment & prioritization of highest value work.

Trusted Partner: Becoming a trusted voice and subject matter expert who articulates the value the team delivers through a cohesive story.

To successfully partner with these teams, the ideal candidate must have technical knowledge of software and data engineering principles, including the evaluation and implementation of SaaS and internally developed solutions that support enterprise capabilities.
 

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 10 years+ of relevant experience, preferably in technology delivery, portfolio management & planning, project management and/or strategy, planning, and governance experience within a technology organization.
  • Technical understanding of software and data engineering principles.
  • You have strong story-telling skills and ability to gather, reconcile, and analyze large sets of data & synthesize it into clear, concise notes, and create insightful presentations.
  • You are capable of handling complex matters, potentially across multiple initiatives, and can effectively manage complex strategic issues as well as day-to-day operational details.
  • You have proven program management and organizational skills, and experience implementing practices that improve organizational efficiency.
  • You have an ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key business partners, to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and to effectively manage expectations with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • You are familiar with agile methodology, as well as agile tools (e.g., Jira, Jira Align) and have experience collaborating to co-develop objectives and connect initiatives / planned work.
     

The Team

The Strategy Enablement & COO Team within Fidelity’s Enterprise Infrastructure & Operations (EI&O) Domain is seeking an adept and seasoned technology professional to serve as Director, IT Business Management to support the Foundational Tools team. While supporting this teams, you will also work closely with your Strategic Enablement & COO Team members to enhance the strategic and tactical capabilities for operating IT as a business. You will guide critical planning and business performance management activities, including, but not limited to, multi-year, operating, workforce, and portfolio & initiative planning. In this role, you will partner closely with EI&O leaders, key business partners, Strategic Enablement & COO Team members, as well as other functional partners such as finance and human resources.

Fidelity’s working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
