Job Description

<p>New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Business Analyst / Technical Lead to help our client with the implementation of an integrated SaaS Student Information System (SIS) across multiple facilities.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><p><br></p><p>Representing Client at the following, but not limited to:</p><ul><li>Project Team Meetings</li><li>Schedule Meetings</li><li>Project Working Committee Meetings</li><li>Vendor Workshops</li><li>Steering Committee Meetings</li><li>Any other as required and determined by the project organizational structure</li></ul><p>Business Analyst:</p><ul><li>Elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the business needs (requirements) and ensure requirements traceability across the project life cycle</li><li>Capture the ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ states (e.g., document business processes, workflows, rules etc.)</li><li>Work with both the vendor(s) and the facilities on Transition to Operations</li></ul><p>Test Lead:</p><ul><li>Create Test Plan/Approach (including and not limited to testing approach, schedule, test cases/scenarios, resourcing requirements {including roles and responsibilities}, test acceptance criteria, and defect management)</li><li>Testing may include but is not limited to Functional, Regression and User Acceptance</li><li>Liaison and consult with vendor</li></ul><p>Power BI:</p><ul><li>Build out Power BI reports based on ad-hoc requirements put forward by the client and stakeholders.</li><li>Prove out and test out-of-the-box Power BI reports and enhance as required</li><li>Build skill sets within each college to support and maintain BI reports post go-live.</li></ul><p>Data Analyst:</p><ul><li>Work with vendor to migrate data from the legacy SIS.</li><li>Analysis to define how the facilities use various types of fields in modules and populate look-up tables.</li><li>Liaison with the government resources</li></ul><p>Client Support and Technical Strategy:</p><ul><li>Establish and maintain regular communication pathway with client whose instance(s) are being worked on and elevate needs to vendor as required.</li><li>Advocate for solutions as required in conjunction with facility.</li><li>Support the collection of current state business processes with facility and assist in determining new business process flows.</li><li>Defining technical requirements for modifications and work-arounds to vendor where the existing software lacks critical functionality.</li><li>Defining and passing on enhancement requests to vendor to recommend future improvements which would support needs.</li><li>Facilitating the collective definition of base reports and the necessary content required through liaising with government.</li><li>Facilitating collective naming conventions for some data items.</li><li>Ensuring that an evolving set of collective business rules around the SIS are defined and respected through each implementation to ensure a required level of consistency</li><li>Negotiating and collecting data values which require collective input.</li><li>Overseeing high-level data load strategy including volume of history to extract through legacy system and engage strategy to create the data file.</li><li>Configuration of some system values, adding users for each facility.</li><li>Clarification of testing vs production environment protocols for each implementation.</li><li>Creation of some common user documentation including potential training documentation for the college sector.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Requirements:</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li>8+ years of experience in Business Analysis and Technical Leadership roles.</li><li>Skilled in eliciting, analyzing, validating, and managing business requirements across the full project lifecycle.</li><li>Strong documentation capabilities for current (‘as-is’) and future (‘to-be’) state processes, workflows, and business rules.</li><li>Experience bridging business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment with strategic goals.</li><li>Proven ability to develop comprehensive test plans and approaches.</li><li>Experience leading Functional, Regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).</li><li>Familiarity with defect management and acceptance criteria</li><li>Comfortable liaising with vendors to coordinate testing and resolve issues.</li><li>Hands-on experience building and customizing Power BI reports.</li><li>Ability to test and enhance out-of-the-box reports.</li><li>Skilled in training and mentoring teams to maintain BI reports post go-live.</li><li>Experience migrating data from legacy systems.</li><li>Strong analytical skills to interpret field usage and populate lookup tables.</li><li>Ability to collaborate with government departments and vendors on data strategy.</li><li>Ability to define technical requirements and recommend enhancements to vendor solutions.</li><li>Skilled in configuration, user setup, and environment management (testing vs production).</li><li>Experience creating user documentation and training materials.</li><li>Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.</li><li>Experience in post-secondary sector beneficial.</li><li>Experience with SaaS implementation projects beneficial.</li><li>Business Analyst
