Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $88,496 to $128,625 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

The Ontario government is currently working with some of the latest and cutting-edge technology to enable its multi-Cloud hybrid strategy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape Cloud technology architecture and guide the business transformation in project and service delivery.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Provide thought leadership and technical expertise in Hybrid Cloud Architecture and how to deliver it at scale across the Ontario Public Service (OPS)
• Assist in developing and aligning to the Enterprise Architecture for the Cloud program including on-prem one(s)
• Develop, foster and manage business relationships with clients and partners to develop enterprise level solutions
• Bridge customer-centric business outcomes to solutions through laaS, PaaS and SaaS hosted in public or private clouds
• Coordinate and work horizontally across technology teams to achieve customer-driven results
• Work on new and emerging technology to drive innovation and transform IT service delivery
• Work in an environment promoting continuous learning and development
• Maintain and sustain continuity of business and deliver on multi-year plan commitments and day-to-day business operations including 1200+ mission- and business-critical applications for the OPS and the ministry

How do I qualify?

General Requirements: • You have expert knowledge of Cloud technologies (public and private) and frameworks such as Cloud Native Application Development.
• You are familiar in working in DevOps and SRE teams and methods to deliver infrastructure for application teams focusing on security by design best practices and using automation (infrastructure as code).
• You are skilled in building Cloud strategies and reference architectures for enterprise applications.
• You have sound knowledge of and experience with Cloud Native Application Development frameworks.
• You have full comprehension of data centre technologies – workloads, data bases, operating systems, virtualization, infrastructure, networking and container technology.
• You can develop and maintain user-friendly technical documentation.
• You are well versed in applying project management principles such as effort estimating, approach definition, budgeting, and monitoring towards goals.
• You have applied understanding of architectural frameworks.

Technical Knowledge and Skills You have:
• In-depth knowledge of designing and implementing solutions using container technologies, IaaS, PaaS & SaaS services
• Proven knowledge of working with API’s and continuous integration and delivery tools/scripting (Ansible, Jenkins/Concourse/C#/PowerShell/Bash)
• Solid understanding of private and public Cloud architecture and security models
• Experience re-hosting, re-platforming and refactoring customer solutions for the cloud
• Solid understanding of identity and access management technologies (Directory Services/Single Sign On/Multifactor Authentication, PIMPAM)
• Strong understanding of enabling technologies such as DNS, networking, storage, encryption, logging and other security controls
• Fully understand and have implemented networking components such as gateways, routers and load balancers
• Have hands-on expertise to troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues
